Sydney Joy’s Story

Raising a child with CHARGE is like being a fireman; you are constantly putting out fires. In between the fires you stop, clean up the debris, pick yourself and your family up, brush yourselves off and see the beauty that remains. The LOVE, the LAUGHTER, the LIVING, the REAL life that goes on in between the daily medical, educational and mental crises.

Sydney Joy is a charismatic, spunky, adorable little girl with an amazing sense of humor and zest for life. She dreams just like any other little girl dreams and aspires to be a princess, a doctor, a dentist and we encourage her to be all three!!! She has a way of reaching and touching people’s hearts within minutes of meeting her. She is just "one of those kids" that inspires you to see the world in a different way. One that needs to wear cochlear implants to hear, one that wears orthopedic inserts to help her walk, one that doesn't yet see that she is different from all the others, one that deserves every opportunity to learn, grow, succeed and excel!

After 4 surgeries, countless hearing tests, multiple CT scans, various Ultrasounds, an eco cardiogram, X-rays, an MRI, etc., the one thing we know for sure is that Sydney Joy is our hero. She is the one that comforts us, holds us, reassures us, and tells us that she is ok. Her ability to adapt to the challenges life has thrown has taught us all a little something about what it really means to persevere.
