Meet Joseph “Joey”
Joey is a bright light in the lives of everyone who knows him. Born with Down Syndrome, Joey has faced more medical challenges than most people see in a lifetime — including heart surgery, trach surgery, stomach surgery, G-tube surgery, and more. But through every challenge, Joey has shown incredible strength, courage, and joy.
Despite the odds, Joey learned to walk at three years old and recently reached another major milestone: drinking from a straw — an amazing accomplishment for a child who hasn’t been able to eat by mouth. Every step forward is a testament to his determination and the love that surrounds him.
Joey has a fun, playful personality that shines through every day. He loves playing, going on walks, and especially dancing to music. One of his favorite things to do is wrestle with his big sister and cuddle up in someone’s arms. Often, he’ll walk up with his hands in the air — his sweet way of saying, “Pick me up, please?”
Joey’s story is one of resilience, joy, and boundless love. He continues to inspire everyone around him with his fighting spirit and infectious smile.
