Meet Sakura!

One-of-a Kind and Proud of It

Sakura is a one-of-a-kind young girl and she wouldn’t have it any other way! She has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD, asthma, and scoliosis. Her multiple diagnoses can make everyday things and social interactions challenging, but they also make her the wonderfully unique person her family knows and loves.

Sakura and her twin sister, Akira, were born at 28 weeks, weighing 1lb 11oz each. While both girls had to push through many obstacles, Sakura needed more intervention and support. At 3 weeks old she had heart surgery to close a stubborn heart valve and was on a ventilator for many weeks. After nearly 4 months in the NICU, Sakura was finally able to come home, oxygen tank in tow! Over the years, she has been followed by multiple specialists in and out of state.

She is an absolute pleasure to be around and has one quality that everyone who meets her quickly learns to appreciate: she tells it like it is! Her brutally honest, no-filter personality keeps the people around her laughing and always makes sure you know exactly what she is thinking.

Sakura’s family is committed to helping her build the skills, confidence, and independence she needs for the future. Sakura may do things differently, but she has a personality all her own and she has plenty to say about it!
