David’s Story

David was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus during a prenatal anatomy scan and was born early at 34 weeks, spending two weeks in the NICU. At just 7 weeks old, he underwent his first brain surgery to place a VP shunt, followed by multiple surgeries over the years — including two eye surgeries and a shunt revision. He has since been diagnosed with a tethered spine, Chiari malformation, strabismus, and visual-spatial disabilities.

David has been in physical and occupational therapy since he was 10 weeks old, and recently added visual therapy to his routine. His progress has been incredible — graduating from traditional physical therapy and now using karate to build strength, balance, and focus.

A natural performer with a huge imagination, David loves acting, music, and creating skits. He plays both the piano and harmonica, and never misses a chance to perform with the Blues Brothers at Universal. He’s a spelling bee champ, a Star Wars fan, and most importantly — a joyful, determined spirit who shines in everything he does.
